Team GB duo, Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson, won bronze at the figure skating World Championships in Boston, ending Great Britain’s 40 year medal drought.
After finishing fourth at the two previous World Championships, all eyes were on Fear and Gibson to push themselves up the rank, where they successfully entered the podium with a score of 207.11.
“I can’t even describe my feelings, I’m still shaking” said Fear, with Gibson adding, “It’s a dream come true.”
After placing third with their rhythm dance, and sixth with their free dance, the combined scores were enough to award them with the biggest moment of their careers so far.
Madison Chock and Evan Bates, from America, defended their title and Canada’s Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier took the silver home.
Fear and Gibson are Britain’s most decorated figure skaters since ice dance legends, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean. The pair are three time European silver medalists, seven time British Ice Dance Champions, and most recently, claimed Britain’s first ever medal at the Grand Prix final. They also represented Team GB in the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
The World Championships will determine who qualifies for the 2026 Olympic Games in Milan-Cortina.
